The Empties: January Edition

Isn’t it strange how oftentimes when you run out of one product you’re also running out of two or three more? As a skincare junkie this happens to me all the time! And I thought this would be a good opportunity to share what I loved, liked, and thought was just meh.

CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

I received this moisturizer as a gift. However, I was a little hesitant to use it because I had done zero research about it. I did not know if it was going to work for my skin type, if it was going to be too light weight, or if it was going to be greasy, but seeing as my skin was needing more moisture at night I decided to give it a try and I’m soooo glad I did!

The formula is not too heavy and sinks into my skin quickly. It is not greasy at all, in fact, my skin doesn’t feel like there’s anything on it. The hydration is long lasting and gives me this dewy appearance come morning. This product is also made with niacinamide, so it doesn’t break me out and it has helped reduce the appearance of my acne scars. Since running out of this, I have repurchased it – you could say we’re in a committed relationship.

Bliss Lemon & Safe Body Butter

I discovered this product while working at my local Ulta Beauty. I first bought this because it smells sooo good! Not to mention, this leaves my legs oh-so-soft with lasting hydration. The only downsides are that this is fragranced (i.e., unlisted chemicals), and it’s pricey considering that there are more affordable options.

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation

I have been trying to find a foundation for years! They either dry out my skin or leave it way too greasy. This is perfect for my oily skin because the matte formula when settled gives my skin a dewy appearance. The foundation is also buildable to cover any redness.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap

I cannot sing enough praises about this cleansers. First off, it’s dermatologist tested, so you know that someone is putting a lot of effort into making this product fabulous. This is also fragrance free and therefore there are no hidden nasty chemicals. When used it leaves skin feeling clean, but not stripped. When a cleanser strips my skin, it leaves it feeling tight and itchy. My favorite part of this product though is that a little goes a long way!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

Okay, Glossier fans, do not hate me. This is not my favorite product. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good mild cleanser and has a great rose scent, but I need more than that. This product is no where near strong enough to rid my skin or dirt and grime even when used with my oil cleanser first. The jelly texture is different, however, it does not foam up. A foamy texture is a personal preference, but I do believe it helps penetrate the skin better. Lastly, the price point does not thrill me considering how little product you get.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

There’s a reason this product’s initials spell FAB. These glycolic acid soaked pads are great for nightly use, sloughing away dead skin cells. I also noticed while I used these that my skin texture was improved and pores were minimized. Additionally, the glycolic acid fights off acne forming bacteria. While I have not repurchased this product yet (using Glossier’s Solution), I no doubt will be coming back to it.

Glossier Zit Stick

Again, Glossier fans, do not hate me! There are great qualities about this product such as the metal tip applicator, the product drying clear, and its travel-friendly packaging. However, this formula is not strong enough. Out of all of the times that I used this product, and I used it until it was gone, it only worked five times tops.

Have you ever tried Cliniques 3 step system? I’ve been eyeballing it for AGES and can’t work up the courage to try it in place of my current routine.

Yeah, I have used the three step system. It’s pretty good for cleaning and taking care of your skin based on your skin type. It’s all dermatologist tested, fragrance free, and the products are all formulated to compliment and work together. However, I needed a stronger toner than the one suggested to target my acne-prone skin. Besides that, I love the system!
